Writing Mini-Lessons for Upper Grades

During the writing block of a Four-BlocksTM classroom, children write and share each day, and they observe the teacher writing and thinking about writing during the daily writing mini-lesson. The focus of the mini-lessons changes as the school year goes on so the lessons in these books are grouped by early-in-the-year, most-of-the-year, and late-in-the-year mini-lessons. How many lessons you do and how many times you do a specific lesson depends upon your students and their abilities.
