50 Tricky Sight-Word Phrases is designed to give readers the opportunity to practice reading words in phrases that tend to be "tricky," because the arrangement of the words may obscure the meaning, the reader is unfamiliar with the phrase, or the phrase requires inferential thinking. After reading these phrases rapidly, students will benefit from using them in complete sentences, both orally and in writing. Each tricky phrase reinforces visual scanning skills, fluent phrasing, and automaticity with unusual words commonly found in transitional levels of text. They are appropriate for students who are learning to read as well as those who struggle with sentence structure, word retrieval, and comprehension skills.
